Grand Chess Tour 2018 sees a format change. While the first four events retain the same rule, the last event - the London Chess Classic - would serve as the semifinals and finals for the top 4 players from the first four events and would consist of a classical, rapid and blitz section. Hikaru Nakamura emerged victorious at the London Chess Classic and clinched the Grand Chess Tour's top prize by beating Maxime Vachier-Lagrave in the Blitz section.
